Bilateral Cooperation: The ISDB President expected in Abidjan this week for a working visit

The President of the Islamic Development Bank,His Excellency Dr Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, will be on a working visit to Abidjan, the Ivorian economic capital, this week. From 26th to 28th October 2022, His Excellency Dr Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser will lead a delegation of the financial institution. This delegation will include the Director of the West African Regional Hub (based in Dakar), Mr Musa Sillah, and his country representative, Mr Cheick Oumar Ouattara. This working visit is undertaken to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and the IsDB.

The IsDB’s President, His Excellency Dr Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, and his delegation will participate in several high-level meetings with top Ivorian officials. The visit schedule also includes a series of working sessions with the Ministry of Planning and Development as well as other government institutions and economic actors in Côte d’Ivoire. In addition, the IsDB delegation will have the opportunity to appraise further the efforts made by the Ivorian government in socio-economic development through guided visits to several socio-economic and tourist sites.

The IsDB is one of the financial partners supporting Côte d’Ivoire to achieve its development goals and currently has an active portfolio worth US$ 899.17 million. This volume is expected to rise to US$ 1.097 billion this year. It is noteworthy that the institution pledged to partake in financing the National Development Programme (NDP 2021-2025) to the tune of US$ 2.11 billion during a multilateral meeting organised by the Ivorian government in Abidjan last June. In addition, the IsDB consolidated its presence in Côte d’Ivoire with the appointment in May of its country representative, Mr Cheick Oumar Ouattara. This appointment aims to bolster cooperation with Côte d’Ivoire and to ensure better monitoring of the active projects’ portfolio.
